In European labour law, work-life balance is becoming increasingly important, requiring much more flexibility on the part of the employer than the rigid, hierarchical role previously seen. The coronavirus pandemic has also contributed greatly to the improvement in adaptability, including the rise of home office. Recognising these trends, the EU has adopted a number of directives, which the Hungarian legislator has transposed into Hungarian law with amendments that entered into force on 1 January.
Members of the Belgian Business Club had the opportunity to receive a summary of these amendments from our office at an event held on 9 February. From the discussions after the presentation, it became clear that there are many practical questions for employers.
